Building the still-life setup allows me to observe how light permeates the form and atmosphere.
Once the composition is established, I create small color studies to explore the emotional and atmospheric relationships that will shape the final painting.
The painting gradually moves beyond direct observation while preserving what I learned about light, form, and atmosphere through the still-life setup, and the emotional relationships developed through the color studies.
